Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (which is securely hashed). This is the minimum information required to provide you with the service.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use Daily Ping, including:

  • Your daily question and answers
  • Your streak data
  • Account settings and preferences
  • Email notification preferences

Analytics

We use Google Analytics for basic usage tracking. This helps us understand how the service is used so we can improve it. Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using browser extensions or settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve Daily Ping:

  • To provide the service: Store your questions, answers, and streak data so you can track your habits
  • To send reminders: Send daily email reminders if you have enabled them
  • To improve the service: Analyze usage patterns to make Daily Ping better
  • To communicate: Send important service updates or respond to your inquiries

Data Sharing and Selling

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

The only third-party services we use are:

  • Resend: To send you daily reminders and important updates
  • Google Analytics: For basic usage analytics (as described above)
  • Vercel: To host the website. We do not store any data on Vercel. We have edge functions that run in the UK and US to process your data.

All third-party services are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements.

Data Security

We take data security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

  • Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms
  • Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS
  • Regular security updates and monitoring
  • Access controls to limit who can view your data

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Data Ownership

You own your data. Period.

Export Your Data

You can export all of your data at any time through your account settings. This includes all your questions, answers, and streak history.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time. When you delete your account, all of your personal data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. No questions asked.

Access and Correction

You can access and update your account information at any time through your account settings.

Opt Out of Emails

You can disable email reminders at any time in your account settings. You will still receive important service-related emails (like security notifications).

Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Session cookies: To keep you logged in and maintain your session
  • Google Analytics: For usage analytics (you can opt out via browser settings)

We do not use tracking pixels, hidden analytics, or any other invasive tracking methods.

Children's Privacy

Daily Ping is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top
  • Sending you an email notification for significant changes

Your continued use of Daily Ping after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
